Elisabeth Kissling has been mixing music, curiosity, and community engagement for as long as she can remember. She studied music, psychology, and philosophy at Coe College, completed counseling studies at the University of Iowa, and first fell in love with performance while playing violin in orchestra at Cedar Rapids Washington High School’s performance of The Pirates of Penzance.
A professional pianist and lifelong arts advocate, Elisabeth believes deeply in the power of creativity to connect, heal, and inspire. Her leadership and service have been recognized with honors including Corridor Business Journal Forty Under 40 (2013), Leadership for Five Seasons (Class of 2017), and the 2025 Waypoint Tribute to Women of Achievement Award.
Elisabeth works as a Family Advocate for the Iowa Donor Network and provides suicide first aid trainings in the community.
Elisabeth lives in Marion with her husband, Josh, her teenage son Liam and their rescue dog, Hank. When she’s not making music or supporting families, you can find her traveling, chasing down the perfect cup of coffee, or soaking up live music.
“I’m excited to join the Playtime Poppy board because I deeply believe in its mission to engage, educate, and entertain our community through joyful, interactive theatre. I care deeply about the arts and mental health, and I love how Playtime Poppy creates imaginative experiences that support emotional growth, connection, and well-being for children and families.”
